About 7dials

7dials sells a range of beautiful things for giving and living.

We carefully select things that make great presents or even better, something to keep for yourself. We are constantly seeking out the next best thing, so each time you visit there is something new and exciting to find. Some of our stock range is exclusive to 7dials and cannot be found elsewhere.

There is nothing that we would not be willing to buy or own ourselves and if something does not meet the high standards that we expect we either do not stock it in the first place, or it is quickly removed from sale and returned to the supplier.

7dials opened in Portishead (just outside Bristol) in November 2009 and our online store opened less than a year later. We have no plans to appear in other locations around the UK but we do aim to ensure that your shopping experience with us is better than anything you could get from a large retail chain or a small independent shop.

We love everything we sell and we love what we do. We hope you do to.

Portishead Store

Our store in Portishead can be found next to Waitrose café.

The easiest way to find us is to head towards the end of the Marina when you will see Waitrose, park and walk round the corner of Waitrose. If you pay us a visit from out of town, please stop by and say hello.

Portishead is a beautiful Victorian seaside town located by the Severn Estuary 10 miles west of Bristol.  7dials is a 30 minute drive from Bristol or a 10 minute drive from Junction 19 of the M5 motorway.

Environment and Ethics

We strive to recycle, reuse and reduce all of our resources.

For example our lighting is the most current low wattage energy saving bulbs available and we harvest the low amount of water we use for the plants we have outside our store.  We consider every business journey we take with a view to avoiding the use of fossil fuel where possible.

We recycle anything that we can and we reuse packaging materials. We give feedback to our suppliers to try and get them to reduce the amount of packaging that they use or at least ensure that it comes from a sustainable source.

Having said all this we are also not environmental experts and we welcome any suggestions on alternative ways of dealing with things in a more environmentally friendly way.

We have selected suppliers on the basis of their ethical standards, Lanka Kade is a good example of this and we would immediately cease to deal with any supplier who does not at least abide by local laws and act in an ethical manner in any territory where they operate whether it is connected to goods they supply to us or not.

We actively support British made products when they meet our requirements.

We try to deal with all our suppliers with integrity and fairness which is a principle that we also extend to all our business dealings.

Charitable Donations

7dials supports a charity helping children and communities in Kenya with an annual contribution to PLAN UK.

Since being open we have also contributed to local Portishead organisations, mostly those linked to children. In addition to this we have advertised in local publications that help support local events and activities such as Portishead Carnival, Portishead Christmas Lights and the Portishead Victorian Evening.

Since opening we have made donations of cash, vouchers or products to the following:

  • Portishead Primary School
  • St Peters Primary School
  • High Down Infants School
  • High Down Juniors School
  • St Josephs School
  • Trinity Primary School
  • Portishead Playgroups (Brampton and Hill Top)
  • The Gym Academy
  • Portishead Juniors FC
  • Capita Symonds (raising money for the NSPCC)
